Any other Aussie's in the house?
« on: May 15, 2011, 12:02:45 PM »
Hi Guys and Ghouls  ::)

I'm an Australian make-up artist from Sydney, getting back into special effects after trying out an unrelated career (forensic medicine; yes a bit of a stretch for a powder puff ;) ). I have been in make-up for 15years and worked in everything from magazine editorials to short films, commercials and TV etc, whatever pays the bills really.

I'm here to learn what I can from you guys and perhaps impart some of my years of knowledge if it helps anyone. I specialise in product chemistry and zombies, lol.

Can't wait to meet you all!!

Lisa

Hello Lisa,

Welcome to the forum.  You could be the first Aussie here??  Sounds like an interesting turn of careers which has come full circle for you, I wonder how materials have changed in that time?

Hi, Lisa

and most welcome here on this forum.

A turning by forensic medicine is not on the least a bad way for make up artistry. I have been a nurse for some months in my early ages and that was an invaluable information source of inspiration for wounds and other really severe human bad conditions. So, I wouldn't regard this turning as a complete waste of time. Then, welcome back.
You could suggest us ideas to make up wounds and the like and we could help you solve the technical questions, if any…
Just ask…

And please show pics asap…
Makeup is a trade that needs serious, time, practice and patience. That's why I love it since the beginning…

Lisa, so glad to have you here.

I think your background in forensics will only help to improve your effects work.

Welcome aboard ;D

Thanks guys! What a warm welcome! If you ever need to know anything wound-wise/dead people wise just ask. Likewise there are many things I'm still learning technically with moulding and casting, teeth especially, that I want to learn. So I'm here to lean and help where I can.

I spent a year in forensic medicine doing autopsies so my knowledge of trauma and death is relatively good. I always base my make-up in reality, it's much more reactionary and relate-able that way. I also have taught make-up and hair in two colleges in Australia so if you guys are stumped with 'normal' make-up or hair just shout!

You can find some of my work on my website www.envisagemakeup.webs.com

Thanks again guys! I can't wait to look around!  ;D
